General Accountability

Under the supervision of Dr. Nancy Waite, Associate Director of Practice Based Education and Professional Outreach at the UW School of Pharmacy, the Educational Research Associate will be responsible for the planning, administration, analysis and dissemination of a number of curricular research projects.  The individual will work both independently and with a research team that will include faculty, co-op and independent study undergraduate students, graduate and post-graduate students and other research associates/assistants.  At times, the Research Associate will be expected to supervise these other team members. This position is contingent on funding.

 

The Waite Research Group employs 5-15 researchers at a given time, with approximately one co-op student per term. The lab has 8 – 13 active research projects and over the past 5 years has attracted over $7 million in research funding.

Nature and Scope

This position consists of various curricular research activities. A high level of attention to detail and self-motivated work with limited day-to-day supervision is required. The Research Associate will work independently on multiple research projects, as well as collaboratively with other team members on various aspects of the research projects. The Research Associate will be expected to conduct research in a way that is rigorous and efficient.

The Research Associate will have strong and effective written and verbal communication skills and be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines. This position requires experience conducting curricular research in at least one of the following areas: Community Service-Learning, Curricular Design, Evaluation of Curricular Initiatives, Co-operative Education.  This will include strong qualitative analysis skills and good quantitative analysis skills.
