General Accountability

The incumbent is accountable to the Operations Administrator  to provide excellent customer service,  promotion of  New Media Services, and assistance with new business development.

Nature and Scope

Retail Services is an ancillary operation that must generate its own income and maintain fiscal viability.  The department must deliver the highest quality customer service, provide products and services that will enhance student success and support the university mission.

Retail Services business units are comprised of the Book Store, Campus Tech, E Smart, Waterloo Store, Write Stuff and New Media Services. New Media Services operations include Digital Print Production, Fleet and Dept Copiers, and four Media.doc copy centre locations.

The incumbent is expected to work as a team player and work effectively with all Retail Services and uWaterloo students, staff and faculty.

The incumbent is responsible for excellent customer service to ensure customer print orders are completed accurately to meet expected timelines. The incumbent assists with customer inquiries, products and services sales support, POS transactions, department requisitions, and has knowledge of products and services available through New Media Services and/or Retail Services business units. The incumbent will work closely with the Operations Administrator to analyse and implement new business development in new media service categories.

Working Conditions

The work requires frequent opportunity to move about. Attention to details and accuracy is important. Excellent verbal and written  communication with customers, co-workers, and management. Physical effort required to lift 50 pounds of paper (boxes).

Incumbent may work extended hours as scheduled by management.
