Electronics Technician

Primary Purpose

The Electronics Technician provides design expertise and technical support for systems used by the Mechanical Mechatronics Engineering department with a focus on automation/control, and digital/analog electronic circuitry. Support encompasses the unique and innovative design of circuits and systems, project management, development through build support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of research and teaching equipment

Position Requirements

Education:

A diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent.

Experience:

10 years of direct experience required.

 

 

 

Technical:

A strong aptitude for electronic technologies and systems is essential. Must have good knowledge and operational experience in most of the following areas:

Nature and Scope

Interpersonal Skills:

Provides technical support for undergraduate students, faculty, and other technical staff. Must be able to effectively communicate with people at all levels of expertise.

Level of Responsibility:

Independently advises and instructs students. Manages equipment inventory.

Decision-Making Authority:

Advises students in conjunction with supervising faculty.

Physical and Sensory Demands:

Most of the work is light and clean however some of the work in the heavy labs can include large and dirty equipment.

Working Environment:

Working conditions vary and range from working at a computer, to bench work, to work in heavy labs. Working outside of normal hours might be occasionally required to deal with emergencies, maintenance, extended run experiments, or upgrades.
