Nature and Scope
Provide administrative and secretarial support for a department that includes 34 full-time Psychology faculty, part-time and adjunct faculty, and 21 staff members and various adjunct and visiting faculty. Academic programs enroll 750 undergraduate Psych Majors and 100 graduate students in doctoral and masters programs. The Support Services Office is a two-member team that provides a combination of general and specific administrative support with some common responsibilities within shared office space.

Specific Accountabilities
Administrative Support:
- responsible for departmental cost-recovery system which includes management of photocopying software, account deposits, Graphics invoice and telephone reconciliation and research expense transfers using Excel
- assist with department alumni projects and on-going activities including outreach programs, tracking, mailings, surveys and reunions.
- Assist Industrial/Organizational Division regarding program administration, newsletter and assist with organization of student Internship placement program
- on-line supplies ordering for departmental needs and research labs; monitor completion process and reconciliation as required
General Departmental Support:
- provide general secretarial support for faculty and a variety of department members including preparation/typing/printing of correspondence, reference letters, course-related materials, grant proposals and manuscripts, using the PC computer system
- manage diversity of general questions from department visitors, local community members, students, staff and faculty by way of telephone, email and office visits
- monitor daily operation of three photocopiers and required service calls (shared responsibility)
- prepare and forward courier packages (shared responsibility)
- distribute mail on a daily basis (shared responsibility)
- answer telephone lines which frequently requires re-direction of community callers to a wide variety of departmental resources (shared responsibility)
- unlock 3rd and 4th floor research areas on a daily basis (shared responsibility)
- available as back-up support for Chair/Admin Officer Assistant and Support Services Office colleague
