General Accountability
Reporting to the Manager, Campus Bar Operations, the Manager, Federation Hall is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Federation Hall and acting as a member of the management team for Federation Hall and the Bombshelter Pub.
Federation Hall is a licensed multi-use facility with a maximum capacity of 1074 people, including patios. The facility has stand alone food service capabilities to serve light meals.
The incumbent will direct the work approximately 100 part-time hourly paid staff.
Total food and beverage sales of Federation Hall are estimated to be $1 million per year.

Specific Accountabilities
- implement and enforce the established operating policies and practices under the supervision of the Manager, Campus Bar Operations consistent with provisions of the Liquor License Act of Ontario and University Policies and Procedures. Have appropriate measures in place to ensure compliance with all workplace safety, food service safety and sanitation guidelines.
- participate in the development of an annual operating budget for the facility. Monitor performance to budget throughout the year, advising the Manager, Bar Operations when appropriate and taking corrective action as required.
- participate in the hiring, training and motivation all part-time staff.
- consistent with the guidelines established by the Manager, Bar Operations, have in place a schedule for part-time staff to ensure that enough part-time staff, with proper skills, are on duty to safely and effectively operate the facility.
- prepare the weekly payroll of all part-time staff.
- implement the established operating guidelines for the bar.
- conduct regular audits of cash flow, payroll, purchases and all operating practices. Conduct a full physical count inventory at least monthly, or more frequently as required.
- determine order quantities for all alcoholic beverages and communicate these to the Manager, Campus Bar Operations. Supervise the receipt, storage and distribution of all alcoholic beverages.
- supervise the preparation of the daily sales deposit and compare this with the sales summary. Advise the Manager, Campus Bar Operations, of any variance, taking corrective action as advised.
- actively market the facility for conferences, social events and other uses to groups on and off campus. Meet with clients to determine needs for beverage service, catering, etc, and coordinate the provision of these services.
- purchase all required supplies and smallwares from approved suppliers.
- participate in the development of an annual special events calendar for both facilities.
- ensure that all staff is Smart Serve trained.
- Assist the Manager, Campus Bar Operations, in the preparation an annual report to meet the requirements of University Policy #21.
- handle patron grievances and all matters of patron discipline within established guidelines.
- work a varied schedule with frequent long days, and work evenings and weekends.
