General Accountability
This position is accountable to the Administrative Manager. The supervisor oversees the retail and internal sales of photographic products and print services as required by Graphics and its' clientele.
Nature and Scope

2) Description of general framework and environment:
University of Waterloo Graphics provides a range of services to faculty, staff, students, and departments including graphics design, custom publishing, electronic imaging, web site development, offset printing, copy centre operation, networked printing, photographic services, reprographics, CD production, document processing, and document finishing.
UW Graphics is an ancillary operation that must maintain its fiscal viability. It must be competitive, effectively marketing its services, forecast and develop business, and innovate in line with industry trends. As an operation in an industry which is at the forefront of information technology, UW Graphics must be a leader with respect to the converging technologies in multimedia, reprographics, network information services, network based processing, electronic imaging, computer assisted design, digital printing, custom publishing, and electronic information access
Statistical Data
Specific Accountabilities
- Supervise day to day operations of Pixel Planet Daily cash set up, daily calibration of DC-12, ordering supplies, passport photos, and customer service.
- Assist customers with photographic imaging requirements for output to: traditional prints, dye sublimation prints, and inkjet output. Provides lamination and foam core mounting services.
- Is available as back up to the University Photographer to perform studio and location photography using available equipment to produce visual aids for teaching, research, publicity, print media, administrative and security documentation, identification and archival records.
- Operational knowledge to use computer software supported by Graphics, and provide assistance and trouble-shooting in the printing of customer digital files.
- WHIIMIS and safety procedures. Be trained and aware of all WHIMIS and equipment safety procedures in the handling of stock, chemicals and electrics.
4) Administrative:
- Oversees and performs processing of internal photographic product orders. Ensure internal orders are accurately processed using Print Management System.
- Supervise and performs opening and closing duties of Pixel Planet.
- Updates and maintains pricing and product inventory on WatCard Pos system.
- Ensures safe operation of all production equipment, computer equipment and related items in Pixel Planet.
- Ensures all equipment is properly maintained, fully stocked and operational; arrange for equipment repair as required. Scheduling service calls to repair technicians if necessary. Advise Administrative Manager if any service repairs have been requested, and an account of problem.
- Ensures retail customer orders are taken and completed in a timely fashion, and are provided in a positive, polite and efficient manner. Provide maximum quality products to satisfy customer requirements and deadlines.
- Refers to the Administrative Manager all variances to established policy and procedures.
- Confidentiality is imperative as position may involve access to University Management information.
5) Supervisory & Training:
- Supervision of Pixel PubPlanet. Technicians and Casual employees.
- Assists and advises the Administrative Manager in the upgrading of staff knowledge and skills to ensure smooth operation and customer satisfaction.
- Assist in the overseeing of organization and workflow of the unit to provide the maximum efficiency and productivity. Good housekeeping and safety practices to be enforced within the facility at all times.
