General Accountability

This position is accountable for providing excellent customer service and public relations for technology products and services  at CampusTechshop.

Nature and Scope

CampusTechshop is the on campus agent for sourcing and reselling computer goods and services to students, staff and faculty.

 

The CampusTechshop is a university ancillary operation located in the Student Life Centre.  CampusTechshop is an authorized Higher Education Reseller for Apple, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, SUN, Microsoft and other major computer vendors.

 

CampusTechshop is one of five business units reporting to Retail Services.  Other stores reporting to Retail Services are the Bookstore, UW Shop, Techworx and Artworx. 

 

Our mission is to provide goods and services to students, faculty, staff and alumni at the best price, quality and customer service excellence that will enhance the academic experience at the University of Waterloo. 

 

This position reports to the CampusTechshop manager. Also reporting to the CampusTechshop Manager are the Technician,  Acquisitions Co-ordinator, Sales Assistant  and part-time sales assistants (students). 

 

Challenges include dealing with demanding faculty, staff and students.    

The incumbent must be familiar with the UW computing standards, software licensing program and campus computing policies approved by IST.

Knowledgeable in current technology products (hardware, software, peripherals and supplies), warranties and services that support the education and research goals of the campus

Specific Accountabilities

Accountable for providing excellent customer service, sales support and recommending technology solutions that meets the customers’ requirements. The incumbent is expected to provide accurate and up-to-date information for pre and post sales support.

 

Accountable for processing POS transactions, approved returns/refunds, providing accurate quotes, answering telephone inquiries and email inquiries.

 

Accountable for completing lease purchase applications from students, staff or faculty. The applications are submitted to either the CTS manager or Director of Retail Services for approval.

 

Responsible for maintaining the stationery supplies and ensuring profitable sales in this category by consulting with the Techworx manager for timely ordering, re-stocking and special purchases.  The incumbent is expected to liaise with the Techworx manager to introduce new stationery supplies products in CTS. 

 

Responsible for assessing backorders, contacting customers if necessary advising them the status of their orders.

 

Accountable for assisting with vendor orders as approved by the manager or the acquisition co-ordinator.   The incumbent will contact vendors as required for product information, availability, price and other relevant information.

 

Responsible for re-stocking, straightening merchandise and taking inventory counts as required.  Assists with the annual year end inventory count including pre-inventory preparations.
