Primary Purpose

The incumbent will be responsible for setting strategic direction for the Feds marketing and communications efforts and ensure a yearly marketing plan and strategies are in place to communicate the Federations of Students mission and values to undergraduate students.  This position will provide high-level oversight in the areas of marketing, communications, proposal development and market research within the organization. They will manage the daily activities of the marketing and communications team and ensure all communications are on brand and work towards achieving the organizations long-term goals.

Position Requirements

Education:

Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related post-secondary degree with equivalent experience.

Advanced Advanced Advanced Familiar with retrieving sales from POS software, Adobe Design Suite and Internet applications.

Nature and Scope

Interpersonal Skills:

Internally, communicates with all members of the organization to ensure they are aware of upcoming marketing efforts and collaborate with Managers to identify areas for cross-promotional within the organization and stay up-to-date on any changes that may require additional marketing support.  Externally, this position will create relationships with other departments on campus, as well as establish off-campus partners to foster future opportunities to work together that will benefit students.

Level of Responsibility:

The position is responsible and accountable for the overall results of the marketing and communications department.  They will utilize their extensive knowledge of marketing and communications strategies to create a marketing plan for the organization, develop brand standards and ensure tracking is completed to ensure success of all efforts.

Decision-Making Authority:

Responsible and accountable for establishing the marketing and communications priorities for the organization, in consultation with the General Manager and executives, and assigning resources and funds accordingly.  This position will be responsible for making timely decisions that will affect how the Federation of Students is viewed by its membership and external parties.

Physical and Sensory Demands:

Minimal demands typical of a management position operating within an office environment.

Working Environment:

Minimal exposure to disagreeable conditions typical of a position exposed to stress and pressure associated with management responsibilities. Work outside the normal operating hours of the institution  can be expected in this role.
