General Accountability
Nature and Scope
The primary function of this laboratory is the analysis of water, soil and rock samples for concentrations of volatile organic contaminants.

Specific Accountabilities
The senior analytical chemist has the following responsibilities in addition to the conducting of chemical analyses:
- supervision of one or more full-time junior (B.Sc. level) analytical chemists
- instruction and supervision of other personnel in the laboratory including co-op students, part-time lab assistants as well as graduate students and research associates in the Cherry/Parker research group when they are assigned temporarily to the laboratory
- implementation and documentation of all quality assurance/quality control aspects of the laboratory
- production of comprehensive data reports with appropriate supporting documentation
- signing authority for the account used for laboratory supplies
- participation with Parker and Cherry in the modification of lab facilities and the purchase of new equipment
- participation in the development and testing of new methods for analysis of contaminants and geochemical parameters in water, soil and rock
- preparation, as a co-author, of papers for presentation at conferences or symposia and for publication
- presentation of papers at conferences or symposia.
