Receiving/Shipping Operations Manager

General Accountability

The Receiving/Shipping Manager is accountable to the Director Retail Services for cost-effective, timely and efficient management of the Retail Services Receiving/Shipping functions supporting the Retail Services mission and the academic mission of the University.

Nature and Scope

Mission Statement - To provide goods and services to students, faculty, staff, and alumni at the best price, quality and customer service excellence that will enhance the academic experience at the University of Waterloo.

Reporting to the Director of Retail Services are the Bookstore manager, CampusTechshop manager, General Merchandise manager, Accounting Manager, Communications & Marketing Manager and Information Technology Administrator.

Retail Services is an ancillary academic support department responsible for the operation of the Bookstore, CampusTechShop, Techworx, Artworx and the UW Shop and provides services that are an adjunct to the academic endeavours of the university.”

Staff reporting to the Receiving/Shipping Operations Manager are:

The incumbent is an effective team member who maintains positive working relationships internally (Retail Services co-workers) and externally with Central Stores staff.

Working Conditions

Over 70% of the time is spent in a comfortable position with opportunity to move about.  Located in clean indoor area, open office environment.  There is frequent need to give close attention to invoicing details, accurate data input and efficient, timely receiving/shipping of goods.  Heavy lifting and moving products/fixtures following the safety guidelines of UW Health and Safety.
