General Accountability

The Business Analyst is accountable to the Manager, Client Services for providing guidance and reporting to account holders on matters relating to the management of their financial data.

Nature and Scope

Client Services must provide and promote quality and timely service to the various University departments across campus.  The Business Analyst must possess a good working knowledge of the financial business of the University.  He/she must possess excellent computer skills for financial report writing.  The Analyst must have the ability to assess user needs and respond as required, i.e. financial report writing, budget setup, account setup, advice on how to record financial data.  He/she must have an excellent understanding of the Oracle Government Financials (OGF) General Ledger and Cognos Impromptu in order to create demand reports for Finance and the University community.  A high degree of accuracy and confidentiality is required in the establishment of user responsibilities for salary drilldown in the web based Cognos Impromptu reports (F.O.R.E.).  The Business Analyst will play a leadership role in OGF and Cognos Impromptu upgrades.  He/she must assess and recommend changes to our business environment and be aware of technological changes and recommend changes to our own policies and procedures.  The incumbent will be assigned to special projects such as disabling Dynamic Insertion in OGF and designing and testing new Impromptu reports, for endowment, trust and other funds, which include budgeting.
