Mailroom Lead Hand

General Accountability

The Mailroom Lead Hand / Bulk Mailing Specialist Assistant works with the Supervisor/Assistant Manager and staff to maintain efficient mail and small freight service across the campus and abroad.  The Lead Hand/ Bulk Mailing Specialist Assistant would report directly to the Supervisor/Assistant Manager.

Nature and Scope

Mailroom Lead Hand

4.Strive to maintain co-operation among all Central Stores staff.

5.Must have above adequate computer/keyboard skills.

6.Assist the Supervisor/Assistant Manager with Performance Appraisals.

7.Must be capable and willing to assist wherever needed in the department.

 

 

Bulk Mailing Specialist Assistant

 

This position is responsible for assisting with the university bulk mail processing plant, which includes the operation of folding, inserting, poly-bagging and inkjet machines and software.

 

Tow Motor Instructor (additional duties)

This position is responsible for obtaining “Train the Trainer” certification to subsequently train and license UW staff from all departments on the use and operation of Tow Motors, Pallet Movers, Reach Trucks (both gas and electric).

Overall General Requirements:

  

The Mailroom Lead Hand / Bulk Mailing Specialist Assistant would be capable of performing all freight and mail routes, as well as their other tasks, as required.  The Lead Hand would be responsible to cover routes vacated by staff holidays and/or illness, via staff movement or performing the task personally. This position requires a considerable amount of self-discipline and professionalism.

Statistical Data

Central Stores employs 33 staff, including 30 full time or contract staff and 3 seasonal summer students.  The annual operating budget is approximately 1.5 million dollars.  Central Stores handles the movement of tens of millions of dollars worth of goods around the campus and abroad.
