General Accountability

The New Media Services Sales Associate  is accountable to the Manager, CampusTec, ESmart, and Fleet Copier services.

Nature and Scope

Retail Services, an  ancillary academic support department with  five campus stores, four campus copy centres, digital printing services, and fleet copier services.   Stores operating in SCH are the Book Store, ESmart, Waterloo Store, and Write Stuff.  CampusTech is located in SLC.  New Media Services is the printing division name for the four copy centres (Dana Porter, Davis Centre, Math & Computer, and CEIT), digital print production (GSC) and fleet department copiers.  Manager, CampusTec/ESmart and fleet copiers reports to the Director, Retail Services.    The Director of Retail Services reports to the (interim) Associate Provost Student Services and Business Operations.

Retail Services mission is to provide goods and services to students, faculty, staff and alumni at the best price, quality, and customer service excellence that will enhance the academic experience at Waterloo.  The incumbent will need to take initiative, be flexible, possess the ability to work as a team player and liaise effectively with a diverse customer representation.   This position requires interaction with student, staff, and faculty.

The New Media Services Associate is accountable for providing excellent customer service, communication, public relations,  technology sales support, digital printing services at CampusTec/ESmart and campus copy at Dana Porter Library.   The incumbent must be familiar with the uWaterloo computing standards, software license programs, computing policies approved by IST.  Additionally, knowledge of current technology computing products, warranties and services available at CampusTech/ESmart is required.  Apple Sales Certification is required.   The Campus Copy Centre at Dana Porter Library provides portable device rentals, book rentals, peripherals and POS products in addition to retail printing services.

Working Conditions

The work requires frequent opportunity to move about.  Attention to details, accuracy, and verbal communication with customers, co-workers, and management is  frequent.   Physical effort required to lift 50 pounds of paper (boxes) and books.   As required or assigned by the manager, incumbent may work extended hours which includes but is not limited to Saturdays, evenings, Labour Day weekend or other special events.
