Administrative Officer
Nature and Scope
This position is responsible for the administrative structure and organization of research experiments and subjects as required by Cognition faculty Besner and Stolz, and includes computer programming in support of experiments and result analyses. Primary tasks include management of administrative systems and research design, programming and interpretation of results. The current workload arrangement provides two-thirds time devoted the Stolz research projects and one-third time assisting Besner research activities.

Statistical Data
Specific Accountabilities
Research Assistant Tasks:
- computer programming of experiments and analyses as required and create documentation of custom software
- provide input on experimental design and interpretation of results
- contact, schedule, test, and debrief subjects in the experiments
- maintaining records of experiments and data
- perform statistical analyses on experimental data
- compose debriefing notes to subjects
- measure, calculate, record experiment parameters
- assist Cognition students assigned to the lab to accomplish similar tasks by providing technical support and guidance
Administrative Tasks:
- monitor computer equipment, networks, and rooms to ensure efficient operation and organize updates and repairs as required and assist in with installation
- coordinate hiring of volunteer and paid undergraduate Research Assistants and provide training and scheduling of RAs on specific projects
- process RA casual earnings submissions, using electronic Payroll system
- manage laboratory supplies, such as paper, printer cartridges, and computer storage media
- Organize physical space to meet changing research experiments and capacity for projects
- maintain research activity records and relevant documentation, including electronic backup of files and analyses, and manuals
- create and present lab orientation for new members, including facility structure, policies and procedures
- maintain collection of scientific journals and articles related to specialized cognition research relevant to undergraduate, graduate and faculty researchers
- provide general assistance for the daily operation of Besner and Stolz labs and projects including tasks such as library research, photocopying, proof reading and occasional scientific correspondence.
- assist with coordination of Cognitive Division Subject Pool with preparation of research objectives and experiment examples, course instructor contact, and subject recruitment
- coordinate Cognition Subject Pool with department Research Experiment Group as necessary
